To Kill a Mocking Bird is a very eye opening story so far. It is giving me insight to a certain society that I know little about while also providing an interesting plot line. This book had a great beginning to it, it introduced the characters well and told what they like to do. My favorite character so far is Scout. She is a curious girl who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. I love all the adventures the three kids, Jem, Scout, and Dill, go on. Especially the ones that have to do with Boo Radley. I am always afraid though that Boo will come out and eat them or something.
However after reading Chapter Nine I am quite confused. A lot of the chapter talked about Atticus defending a "nigger". I am assuming that he is a lawyer and defending someone on court. It also mentions that many of Maycomb's residents are not pleased with his actions. This makes me wonder what the person is on trial for? How bad can it be? Will it force Atticus to move? I can only wonder until we read more in class. Yet, I feel that this story is about to get way more interesting.
